SATURDAY NIGHT ON BROADWAY WITH THE DANCING LADIES OF "SHUFFLE ALONG, OR, THE MAKING OF THE MUSICAL SENSATION OF 1921 AND ALL THAT FOLLOWED"
100 years ago, in 1921, Shuffle Along debuted on Broadway with the exhausting efforts and unexpected triumphs of an all black creative team and cast. Written by Flournoy Miller and Aubrey Lyles, with music and lyrics by Noble Sissle and Eubie Blake, they forever changed the trends and history of Broadway... and all that followed.
In honor of Women's History month, come and hang out in the virtual room via Zoom, with the dancing ladies of Shuffle Along of 2016 (Directed by George C. Wolfe and Choreographed by Savion Glover). Get to know the women who shared the stage and dressing rooms together as they trade stories and personal archives from their time exploring and performing a rich history. Learn about the great Ada Overton Walker, Lotie Gee, Gertrude Saunders, Florence Mills, Fredi Washington, Josephine Baker, Adelaide Hall, Mable Lee and oh so many more women who literally changed, and set the stage for us all.
